1. Familiarization of all measuring instruments
2. Determination the acceleration due to gravity by Kater’s bar pendulum
3. Determination of surface tension by capillary rise method
4. Determination of Young’s modulus of wire by Searl’s method
5. To find the unknown low resistance by Carey Foster’s Bridge
6. Determination of viscosity by Stoke’s method
7. To compare the magnetic moments
8. Diode Characteristics
9. Bandgap by Four probe method
10. Optical rotation by a polarimeter
11. Determination wavelength of Sodium light by the diffraction grating
12. Determination of wavelength sodium light by using Newton’s ring method
13. Determination of thermal conductivity of bad conductor by Lee’s disc method
Course Objectives
- Data collection and develop the ability to analyze the data
- Evaluate the process and outcomes of an experiment quantitatively and qualitatively,
- Ability to measure and report uncertain quantities with appropriate precision
- Conduct an experiment collaboratively and ethically.
Course Outcomes
1. Students will demonstrate proficiency in mathematics and the mathematical concepts needed for a proper understanding of physics. <br />2. Students will demonstrate knowledge of classical mechanics, optics, and thermal physics, and be able to apply this knowledge to analyze a variety of physical phenomena. <br />3. Students will show that they have learned laboratory skills, enabling them to take measurements in a physics laboratory and analyze the measurements to draw valid conclusions. <br />4. Students will be capable of oral and written scientific communication.
