‘ISRO-Space Technology Incubation Center’ (S-TIC) at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela is established to attract and nurture the young academia with innovative ideas / research aptitude for carrying out research, motivating and supporting them to initiate the startups and business in the field of space technology & applications and also to develop the Academia–Industry ecosystem for Space Technology in the whole of the Eastern Region (comprising of the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and union territory of Andaman & Nicobar island). The Capacity Building Programme Office (CBPO), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Headquarter, Bengaluru coordinates all activities of STIC at NIT Rourkela following an MoU between Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) and NIT Rourkela signed on 18th March 2021.
The space technology and application related research and the products from the S-TIC will be utilised in Space missions and will help nation building through ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ in space technology domain. UG/PG Students and research scholars will execute real projects given by ISRO under the guidance from expert faculties of NIT Rourkela(Project PIs), mentors from ISRO and relevant industries. This Centre will also enable start-ups to build applications and products that could be used in future space missions.
