Monsoon precipitation on regional and global scale is expected to continue to change in response to anthropogenic forcings. In this talk, a brief assessment of aerosol precipitation interaction will be presented using 11 coupled models from the Precipitation Driver and Response Model Intercomparison Project (PDRMIP). The experiments include perturbing with sulfate and black carbon aerosols to study the global precipitation response in contrast with the regional response over India. The discussion will highlight key drivers influencing monsoon dynamics and their impact on precipitation variability. Additionally, future plans for aerosol measurement initiatives at NIT Rourkela in collaboration with the ISRO-GBP program will be outlined.
