  • C. V. Raman Hall of Residence

    CV Raman Hall of Residence (CVR Hall) at NIT Rourkela is a prestigious girls' hostel, named after the esteemed physicist Sir C.V. Raman. Designed to provide a secure, comfortable, and academically conducive environment, CVR Hall accommodates approximately 1200 girl students from B. Tech, M. Tech, M. A., MBA, M. Sc., and Ph D programs of diverse disciplines. The hostel features well-furnished rooms, typically share by one or two students, equipped with essential furniture such as beds, study tables, chairs, and storage spaces. Common areas, including lounges and study rooms, provide students with opportunities for relaxation and group study. The hostel's mess serves nutritious and balanced meals, catering to various dietary preferences, ensuring the well-being of residents. CVR Hall offers modern amenities, including good internet, laundry services, and 24/7 security with CCTV surveillance, ensuring safety and convenience for all residents. The hostel fosters a strong sense of community, with students actively participating in cultural, sports, and academic events that promote leadership and personal growth. Located centrally within the NIT Rourkela campus, CVR Hall offers easy access to academic buildings and other campus facilities.   • Dhirubhai Ambani Hall of Residence

    The Dhirubhai Ambani Hostel (DBA) is a vibrant residential complex comprising three blocks: A Block, B Block, and C Block. This hostel is home to 600 students, providing a conducive environment for academic and extracurricular development. The hostel houses a diverse student body, including PhD students, M.Tech students, integrated MSc students, and a large number of B.Tech students ranging from 2nd to 4th year. The hostel is not only equipped with all the modern amenities such as a gymnasium, three common rooms, and one multi-utility room, but also offers various sports facilities viz. badminton, table tennis, indoor cricket, volley ball, carom, chess etc. These amenities encourage a balanced lifestyle, allowing students to thrive academically while also engaging in recreational activities.
  • G. D. Birla Hall of Residence

    Named after the legendary industrialist and philanthropist Ghanshyam Das Birla, serves as a prime example of excellence and community-building among its residents. It is one of the best boys' hostels on the campus, catering to around 640 students across 327 well-maintained rooms. Divided into three blocks, A, B, and C, the hostel accommodates students from B.Tech (excluding first years), M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc., and PhD programs. The hostel is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance both academic and recreational aspects of student life. It has a multi-specialty gym, two outdoor badminton courts, an indoor badminton court, and a common area with carrom and table tennis boards. A large air-conditioned reading room with round-the-clock Wi-Fi access provides a calm study space, while the TV room offers entertainment and current events updates in addition to daily newspapers. The dining hall serves nutritious meals, complemented by a clean, secure, and well-organized living environment. The hall administration conducts cultural and sports events on a regular basis to create an atmosphere of camaraderie among the residents, making it a lively and engaging community. G. D.   • Homi Bhabha Hall of Residence

    The Homi Bhabha Hall of Residence (HBH) at NIT Rourkela stands as a testament to modern student living, catering to the needs of approximately 400 female residents across diverse academic programs. Designed to foster camaraderie and academic excellence, the hostel features a mix of comfortable living spaces, including spacious rooms and common areas for social and recreational activities. The layout promotes a balance between community interaction and individual focus, ensuring a conducive environment for growth. Situated within the lush greenery of the NIT Rourkela campus, HBH is equipped with essential facilities such as well-maintained washrooms, a dining hall providing nutritious meals, and recreational spaces to support a holistic lifestyle.   • Kiran Majumdar Shaw Hall of Residence

    Named in honour of one of India’s most celebrated biotechnologists, the Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Hall of Residence (KMS) is a vibrant and inclusive space designed to foster a sense of community among the institute's female students. Spread across four blocks, it accommodates approximately 450 residents, including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and M.Sc. students, offering diverse living arrangements tailored to their needs. A Block features 26 three-seater rooms, while B Block includes 38 four-seater rooms, encouraging a lively and collaborative environment. The C and D Blocks, connected by a common corridor, collectively house 104 two-seater rooms, providing a more private and focused setting. Nestled within the serene campus, the hostel offers modern amenities such as spacious rooms, well-maintained washrooms, and recreational facilities, ensuring a comfortable and enriching living experience. Currently KMS hall is the home of the first year B. Tech girl students.
  • M.S.Swaminathan Hall of Residence

    The MSS Hall of Residence at NIT Rourkela is a premier boys’ hostel named after M. S. Swaminathan, the renowned Indian agronomist and agricultural scientist, often referred to as the father of the Green Revolution in India. The hall combines comfort, community, and convenience, catering to approximately 550 residents, including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, and M.Sc. students. Designed to foster academic excellence and personal growth among its occupants, it plays a vital role in shaping the student experience on campus. The hostel consists of four blocks: A, B, and C Blocks, each with 84 single-seater rooms, offering privacy and a focused living environment, while D Block includes 150 double-occupancy rooms, encouraging collaboration and camaraderie. This thoughtful layout ensures a balanced living experience, catering to diverse student preferences. MSS Hall is equipped with modern amenities such as high-speed internet, spacious and well-maintained rooms, hygienic dining facilities, and recreational spaces like common rooms with indoor games and TVs. For physical and recreational activities, the hall features a gym, a TV room, indoor sports facilities, a badminton/shuttle court, and a volleyball court, promoting fitness and teamwork. A day/night canteen ensures access to refreshments around the clock, while two common rooms provide spaces for relaxation and interaction. Additionally, a dedicated study room offers a quiet environment for focused learning, and a xerox shop along with a stationery store provides convenient access to essential resources.   • M.Visvesvaraya Hall of Residence

    Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya (MV) Hall of Residence, one of the oldest hostels at NIT Rourkela, is a special place named after the legendary engineer Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. Though it is one of the smaller hostels on campus, its charm and iconic features make it stand out. The hall is home to students from B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc, MBA, B.Arch and PhD programs. It is divided into three blocks—A, B, and C. A Block has 75 rooms, while Blocks B and C each have 90 rooms. Each block has ground, first, second floors. MV Hall is known for its peaceful and pleasant environment, offering students a perfect place to study and relax. The hall features one of the best gardens in NIT Rourkela, and the big banyan tree at the front is an iconic landmark, adding beauty and shade to the surroundings. Residents enjoy modern facilities, including a well-equipped gym, two badminton courts, and a volleyball court. It also has a T.V room and an Entertainment room. The hall also boasts spacious corridors and ample natural sunlight throughout the day, making it bright and welcoming. The mess is clean and provides hygienic meals, while washrooms are easily accessible and well-maintained.Additionally, the hall ensures access to clean drinking water at all times. The hall is close to the academic buildings, making it convenient for students to attend classes and access campus facilities.
  • Satish Dhawan Hall of Residence

    The Satish Dhawan Hall of Residence (SD), named after Dr. Satish Dhawan, the distinguished Indian mathematician and aerospace engineer revered as the Father of Experimental Fluid Dynamics Research, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1981 and served as the Chairman of ISRO from 1972 to 1984. SDH serves as a vibrant and inclusive space for the institute's male students. Comprising six blocks, it accommodates approximately 2,026 residents from diverse academic programs, including B.Tech, M.Tech, Dual Degree, MBA, M.Sc, M.A., and PhD, offering tailored living arrangements. Each block contains 169 well-designed two-seater rooms, fostering an environment of collaboration and camaraderie. Nestled in the serene campus surroundings, SD Hall provides a host of modern amenities, including spacious, airy rooms, clean washrooms, and various recreational facilities that cater to the boarders' physical well-being. These include two indoor badminton courts, a table tennis room, a carrom room, volleyball and basketball courts, a gym, a music room, and two Wi-Fi-enabled reading rooms with television access.Additionally, the hall boasts four common rooms, a general television room, and beautifully landscaped gardens enriched with diverse flora, ensuring a comfortable, enriching, and community-focused living experience.
  • Vikram Sarabhai Hall of Residence

    Vikram Sarabhai Hall of Residence (VSH) has been named in honour of Indian Physicist and Astronomer Vikram Sarabhai who initiated space research and helped to develop nuclear power in India and widely regarded as the "Father of Indian Space Program". VSH is one of the largest halls of residence spread across 08 blocks (i.e., A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) with each having 128 rooms, summing up to 1024 rooms. VSH offers double-seater as well as single-seater rooms for eligible students. VSH offers well-maintained toilets/bathrooms along with the sufficient no. of drinking water purifiers for the residents. The bathrooms are fitted with Geysers for hot/warm water supply in winters. Currently, a total of 32 washing machines are installed for the use of the residents. The hall offers amenities including lush green gardens at front and back sides, a large gym, study hall, and music room for the students. The VSH gardens feature an infinity walkway circumscribing the entire hall for morning/evening walk. For sports activities, VSH boasts three badminton courts, two volleyball courts, a basketball court, and large playground for playing cricket, football, etc. The large and spacious dining hall in VSH mess is sufficient to serve the meals for more than 500 students during the rush hours. Additionally, VSH has day/night canteens and a stationery shop to cater students’ daily needs.VSH provides a secure and conducive environment for academic and physical well-being of its residents. At present VS Hall is the home of B. Tech first year students and PhD scholars.
  • Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar (SSB) Hall of Residence

    SSB Hall of Residence named in the honour of India’s FAMOUS colloid chemist, academic and scientific administrator. The first director-general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Dr. Bhatnagar is revered as the Father of Research Laboratories in India. He was also the first Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The SHANTI SWAROOP BHATNAGAR HALL OF RESIDENCE (SSB) is a vibrant and inclusive space designed to foster a sense of community among the institute's married Research scholars. Spread across four blocks (A,B,C,D), it accommodates approximately 145 research scholars & their family, including post-doctoral fellows and project fellows, offering a diverse living arrangements tailored to their needs. A -Block features 30 family residences, while B- Block includes 39 family rooms, encouraging a lively and collaborative environment. C- block comprising of only 04 family residences and D Block is having the highest no of family residence of 72 rooms, connected by a common corridor, providing a more private and focused setting. Nestled within the serene campus, the hostel offers modern amenities such as spacious rooms, well-maintained kitchen & washrooms, and recreational facilities, ensuring a comfortable and enriching living experience Additionally, the SSB hall of residence is also having a pure vegetarian cafeteria and a multi-variety store to facilitate the scholars at the time of their needs.
  • Verghese Kurien Hall of Residence

    The Verghese Kurien Hall of Residence, named in honor of the "Father of White Revolution," Varghese Kurien, serves as a residence for married scholars and a transit facility for faculty members. This G+5 building features a total of 156 quarters, each equipped with a kitchen, bedroom, and balcony. The quarters are distributed across three blocks: A (48 quarters), B (60 quarters), and C (48 quarters). Facilities at the hall include Two-wheeler and car parking, Lift access, Garden and children's play area, Badminton courts, safety features such as fire extinguishers, CCTV cameras, and security personnel. Additionally, there are nine furnished quarters reserved for international students,equipped with amenities like a sofa, bed, geyser, AC, and induction stove. The hall is surrounded by greenery, providing a serene and pleasant environment for residents.
