BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Maithili Mohanty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha, India, where she has been serving since July 2024. She previously worked as a Research Associate at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur. Dr. Mohanty holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from IIT Kanpur, where she completed her thesis on the "Assessment of anthropogenic interventions in watersheds on river health" under the guidance of Professor Vinod Tare, graduating with a CGPA of 9.24. She also holds an M.Tech in Environmental Engineering and Management from IIT Kanpur and a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Rourkela. Dr. Maithili Mohanty's research interests include wastewater engineering, alongside her focus on water resources management, watershed restoration, environmental flows, hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, and groundwater-surface water interactions. Dr. Maithili Mohanty's expertise also extends to environmental geochemistry, further enhancing her research in areas such as wastewater engineering, water quality, and the geochemical processes influencing aquatic systems. This background supports her work in understanding the environmental impacts of anthropogenic activities on water resources. Her work has been widely published in leading journals, including studies on the hydrological alterations in rivers and the impacts of anthropogenic interventions on water systems. She has presented her research at international conferences such as the EGU General Assembly. In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Mohanty has industrial experience as an Assistant Design Engineer with Mecon India Limited. She is skilled in various software packages like MATLAB, R, and ArcGIS, and proficient in utilizing tools such as the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT).
