
BIOGRAPHY
Professor Debasish Sarkar is a prominent academic and researcher in Ceramic Engineering with over 28 years of experience. He completed his B.Tech in Ceramic Engineering from the University of Calcutta, M.Tech in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, and Ph.D. in Ceramic Engineering from NIT Rourkela. He also pursued a Postdoctoral fellowship at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science, South Korea. Professor Sarkar has made significant contributions to Refractories, Engineering Ceramics, and Nanomaterials, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications, 4 books, 5 book chapters, 6 Nationa/International patents (with IISC Bangalore, Tata Steel Ltd, and Korea Research Institute of Science and Standards), and 12 funded projects worth 2.5 Crores. He has supervised 12 Ph.D. theses, 5 of which have been awarded with the degree. He was the Head of the Department of Ceramic Engineering and the Centre for Nanomaterials at NIT Rourkela. He was appointed Guest Expert on Ceramic Processing for High Power Lasers at the HiLASE Centre, Czech Republic. He has received Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) Medal, 2016. His extensive work in research, technology development, and service to industry has earned him recognition as a leader in his field.
