BIOGRAPHY
Over a 25-year scientific career in India and abroad, Prof. Dhiman has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles in esteemed journals, encompassing host-pathogen interactions, mycobacterial pathogenesis, immunology, drug discovery, and host-directed therapies like autophagy and apoptosis. Throughout his distinguished career, he has significantly advanced the understanding of immune responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis. His PhD research elucidated the role of NF-?B in the apoptosis of mycobacteria-infected cells, differentiating the activation potentials of virulent and avirulent strains. His post-doctoral work highlighted IL-22's role in NK cell-mediated protection during BCG vaccination, emphasizing innate immune responses in tuberculosis control. He has authored more than 10 book chapters and a book entitled "Autophagy Processes and Mechanisms." Prof. Dhiman has collaborated with prominent scientists globally and has been honored with awards such as the Shining Star Award, Laboratory Travel Award, and DST-INSPIRE Faculty Award. As a principal investigator, he has secured over Rs. 170 lakh in funding from prestigious organizations, including DST-SERB, DST-INSPIRE, and DBT. His efforts have significantly advanced his department and institute, exemplified by the establishment of a Confocal Scanning Laser Microscope worth Rs. 2.5 crore for live imaging.
