Introduction Factors affecting structural design of pavement Analysis of single, two and multi layer flexible pavement Methods of flexible pavement design- applications of CBR, Burmister, Asphalt Institute, AASHTO and IRC methods.
Engineering and aesthetic requirements in bridge design Introduction to bridge codes Economic evaluation of a bridge project Site investigation and planning Scour - factors affecting and evaluation. Bridge foundations - open, pile, well and caisson.
Course Objectives
- To apply engineering knowledge in design of pavement
- Knowledge of practices of various mix designs of pavement materials
- knowledge in a wide range of state-of-the-art practices, including code specifications, in bridge engineering.
- develop expertise in analysis and design of bridge superstructures, foundations, bearings and deck joints
