Course Details
Subject {L-T-P / C} : ID4704 : Reverse Engineering and Rapid Manufacturing Laboratory { 0-0-2 / 1}
Subject Nature : Practical
Coordinator : Dr. Mohammed Rajik Khan
Syllabus
Demonstration and exercises on methods of Rapid Prototyping, Rapid Machining and Rapid Pattern Manufacturing. Jobs on Rapid Tooling will be prepared by the students. The purpose of this workshop is to let the students develop the ability to work on Rapid prototyping, Reverse engineering and other CMM machines. Related design projects in collaborative groups or on individual basis will work on a topic formulated by the concerned faculty member.
The project may involve collaboration with students from other specializations, disciplines or institutes or with professionals from the industry.
Course Objectives
- To teach the students to gain practical experience in manufacturing and
prototyping for product design and development.
- Apply up-to-date technology in manufacturing products with considerations of safety and environmental factors.
Apply the reverse engineering process for product development.
Describe the differences and of the application of a range of additive manufacturing processes.
Select and use correct CAD formats in the manufacture of a 3D printed part.
Set up and fabricate a 3D part using an additive manufacturing machine.
Performing RE on selected products and developing their surface models.
Course Outcomes
Completion of a structured laboratory exercise with the emphasis on developing skills or increasing expertise in the setup and operation of an FDM additive manufacturing machine and 7-axis faro arm (RE equipment).
