Syllabus
Study of Metallurgical-Microscope, Preparation of Metallograpic- specimens, Study of Micro-stucture of Pure Metals, various kind of Steels, Cast- Irons, Non-ferrous alloys.
Course Objectives
- Operation of Optical microscope
- To analyze the microstructure
- Comparison of various ferrous and nonferrous microstructure
Course Outcomes
1. Students will learn how to operate optical microscope. <br />2. They( the students) will learn how to prepare Metallographic samples. <br />3. They can distinguish between different phases. <br />4. They will learn the effects of alloying elements on micro-structures. <br />5. They will learn the effect of different heat-treatment procedures. <br />6. They can perform quantitative phase-analysis.
