Syllabus
1. Measurement of temperature using RTD and thermocouple
2. Study the characteristics of strain gauge and load cell.
3. Measurement of linear displacement using LVDT and study its characteristics.
4. Measurement of linear displacements using different sensors (potentiometer, strain gauge, LDR)
5. Measurement of rotational speed using optical sensor and magnetic sensor.
6. Control of conveyor belt by PLC.
7. Temperature and water level control by PLC.
8. Measurement of water level and angular displacement using capacitive transducer.
9. (a) Linear displacement measurement by different optical sensors (LDR, Photo diode, Photo Transistor). And study their characteristics.
(b) Measurement of acceleration by the trainer kit.
Course Objectives
- To provide in-depth understanding of different sensors and their operation.
- To provide a hands on experience in measurement of different parameters like temperature, level, acceleration etc.
Course Outcomes
CO1: Able to carry out research and development in the area of sensor and instrumentation. <br />CO2: To be well versed with the sensors like RTD, Thermocouple, LVDT etc. and their associated signal conditioning blocks. <br />CO3: Able to analyze and evaluate the different blocks as Amplifier, zero adjustment, span adjustment etc. <br />CO4: Design and develop state of the art signal conditioning circuits based on a given design specifications to serve instrumentation and process industries. <br />CO5: Able to analyze and debug the data from the experiment, plot them and write the lab reports properly.
