Invitation

The XXI Convocation of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela for 2023 batch graduating students is schedule to be held on 20^th January 2024 (Saturday) at 10.00 am in the Dilip Tirkey Stadium of the Institute. It is a pleasure for me to invite you to attend the convocation and receive the Degree in person.

A. DRESS CODE

Male Graduands : Full sleeve Sambalpuri design Kurta (Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D) and white colour Pajama to be issued by the Institute at the time of Registration. Graduands will wear their own leather sandal or Juti to match the dress code and occasion. However, slippers are strictly not permitted.

Female Graduands : Sambalpuri design Saree (Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D) to be issued by the Institute at the time of Registration. Graduands will come with their own blouse matching to the Saree (i. e Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D) and leather sandal or Juti to match the dress code and occasion. However, high heel sandals and slippers are strictly not permitted.

B. REGISTRATION

The degree recipients will have to register their names in person on 19^th January 2024 (Friday) between 8.00 am to 11.00 am in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall of the Institute by producing any Photo ID (viz., NITR ID Card/Employee ID Card at the place of work/PAN Card/DL/Aadhar Card/Voter ID). Participation by latecomers is forbidden to ensure that degree certificates are stacked in advance in the right sequence, and that there is no mix up during the Convocation.

C. DRESS ISSUE

The Graduands reporting to receive degree/medal in the Convocation are required to collect Convocation dress at the time of registration on 19^th January 2024 (Friday) between 9.00 am to 11.00 am in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall of the Institute. Such Graduands will retain the dress after the Convocation as a memory without paying any additional fee/charge for same.

D. REHEARSAL (COMPULSORY)

There will be a rehearsal of the convocation process at 2.30 pm on 19^th January 2024 (Friday) (i.e. on the afternoon of the day before the Convocation). So, the respective graduands are requested to occupy their designated seats in Dilip Tirkey Stadium. Since the Convocation is an august event, the event must move without flaw. Only a complete rehearsal shall ensure compliance by all concerned. Hence, it has been decided not to permit a Graduand to participate in the Convocation if he/she misses the rehearsal.

E. YOUR NAME

Please note that your certificate will bear your name as listed in our website www.nitrkl.ac.in/convocation.

Please let me know if (and only if) there is a spelling mistake before 1^st December 2023. You can intimate through email at jayaprakashs[at]nitrkl.ac.in or acad.res[at]nitrkl.ac.in. We shall have no opportunity for correcting it in future.

F. ACCOMPANYING PERSON

Persons accompanying the degree recipients are welcome to witness the Convocation (not the rehearsal) at Dilip Tirkey Stadium. Degree recipients are requested to try to limit the number of accompanying persons to a maximum of one per degree recipient due to the paucity of space. I regret that children are not allowed into the Convocation Hall. The Convocation can also be viewed Live in youtube.

G. ACCOMMODATION

Since we have limited rooms in our Guest Houses and both the Guest Houses will be occupied with our Distinguished guests, we will not be in a position to provide accommodation in our Guest Houses. You may contact local Hotels directly for accommodation.

You are requested to register online (link available in the Convocation portal) in the Institute website latest by 30^th December 2023 so that we will be able to make necessary arrangements for you.
