Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited

Shri PM Prasad assumed the charge of Chairman -cum- Managing Director of Coal India Limited on 1st July 2023. Before this, he was holding charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) from 01-09-2020. Shri Prasad has 38 years of experience in the varied facets of operations and management. Shri Prasad is a mining engineer from Osmania University and he did M. Tech. in ‘Open-Cast Mining’ from the Indian School of Mines (IIT- ISM), Dhanbad. In 1988. He acquired a first-class mines manager certificate from DGMS. He also obtained degree in law from Nagpur University in 1997. Shri Prasad began his career as an executive trainee with Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL) in 1984 and became General Manager of Lingaraj area in Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). He has implemented many projects during this stint and achieved many prestigious awards. In May 2015, he joined NTPC as Executive Director (Coal mining). In February 2018, he joined Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) as Director Technical (P&P). He took over the charge of CMD, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in August 2019.

I am extremely delighted that the XXI Convocation of NIT Rourkela is being organized in January 2024 for graduating students of 2023.

With the magnificent long journey of NIT Rourkela, with its excellent human resources and state-of-the-art infrastructure, you have been well groomed to this level where you stand today. We are looking forward to your growth and achievements, making all of us and your Institute proud through serving the nation, the society, and the world in a meaningful way. We are looking forward for your professional growth and achievements, which make your parents, teachers and the Institute proud. The Institute takes pride in all your services to the nation, the society, and the world in a meaningful way.

Graduation Day is a celebration of success in your academic pursuits. It futher gives you a degree which forms your identity in your professuional career. When you look back into your academic journey in the Institute, you see many people who have contributed to your success, in particular your teachers and your parents. Remember your almamater for its role in shaping you into acomplete professional. This is the occasion of a phase change from a student to an alumnus. I congratulate all the graduating students of the 2023 batch and your parents and I also wish you success in the next steps of your career, whether it is in your first job, as an independent entrepreneur, or higher studies.
