Power Electronics and Drives (M.Tech. - 2yrs)

1 An ability to independently carry out research / investigation and development work to solve practical problems
2 An ability to write and present a substantial technical report/document
3 Students should be able to demonstrate a degree of mastery over the area as per the specialization of the program. The mastery should be at a level higher than the requirements in the appropriate bachelor program
4 Acquire in-depth knowledge of power electronic converter topologies to evaluate, analyse and synthesize their performances by using existing modern tools in real-time applications.
5 Students will be able to independently analyze, identify, formulate, and solve the problems in the field of power electronic applications for industrial drives, power systems, renewable energy systems, electric vehicles, VAR compensation, converter topology and their control.
6 Students will be broadly educated to understand the impact of Power Electronic Systems on the society and demonstrate awareness of contemporary issues. They also understand and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of engineering technologies and practices

1 To develop professional knowledge in the field of Power Electronics and its applications in power sectors and core industries and enhance analytical skills to solve complex problems using advanced controllers appropriate to its solutions that are technically sound, economically feasible and socially acceptable
2 To enhance the students capacity in pursuing the research in emerging areas of Power Electronics and Industrial Drives to inculcate the culture of taking up research oriented projects.
3 To provide opportunity to students for working as the part of teams on projects with multidisciplinary and industrial applications.
4 To provide students with state-of-art technologies for research and product development necessary in Power Electronics and Machine Drives to prepare them for doctoral studies.
5 To exhibit professionalism, ethical attitude, communication skills, team work in their profession and adopt to current trends by engaging in lifelong learning.
