The XVIII Convocation of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is scheduled to be held tentatively on 21st March 2021 (Sunday) at 09.25 am in the
BHUBANESWAR BEHERA AUDITORIUM (BBA) of the Institute. Unlike in other convocations, in view of following the Covid-19 guidelines,
it has been decided to have very limited number of in-presence attendees for this Convocation. It is a pleasure for me to invite only the D.Sc. awardees, Gold medal winners (not endowment medal winners except for the best Ph.D thesis),
& Silver Medal Winners (Medal winner for Branch Topper) and Distinguished Alumnus awardees to attend the convocation and receive the Degree/Medal in person.
The Medal winning Graduands as mentioned above are required to produce copy of Negative Covid-19 Test (RT-PCR) report conducted within last
72 hours before the time of entry at the Main Gate of NIT Campus. The Institute also has the pleasure of
inviting your parents and family members to witness this pleasant occasion in online mode on the YouTube (link to be notified in due course), but is unable to
provide them seats inside BB Auditorium. Please visit our website https://www.nitrkl.ac.in for further details.
Please note that the Dress Code has been changed since the XV Convocation and the changed dress code [Sambalpuri] will continue for the ensuing XVIII Convocation as well.
Male Graduands (Gold Medal & Silver Medal Winners) : Full sleeve Sambalpuri design Kurta (Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D),
white colour Pajama and matching Utariya to be issued by the Institute at the time of Registration. Graduands will wear their own leather sandal or Juti to match
the dress code and occasion. However, slippers are strictly not permitted.

The limited number of Graduands, who are invited for Convocation, will have to register online in the Institute website as early as possible and further register their
names in person on 20th March 2021 (Saturday) between 8.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall of the Institute by producing any Photo ID
(viz., NITR ID Card/Employee ID Card at the place of work/PAN Card/DL/Adhar Card/Voter ID). Participation by latecomers is forbidden to ensure that degree certificates
are stacked in advance in the right sequence, and that there is no mix up during the Convocation.
The limited number of Graduands reporting to receive degree/medal in the Convocation are required to collect Convocation dress at the time of registration on
20th March 2021 (Saturday) between 8.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall of the Institute.
Such Graduands will retain the dress after the
Convocation as a memory without paying any additional fee/charge for same. There will be four different sizes, viz. 38”, 40”, 42” and 44” of Kurtas and the male
Graduands have to mention their preferred size at the time of registration on 20th March 2021 (Saturday).
There will be a rehearsal of the convocation process at 2.30 pm on 20th March 2021 (Saturday) (i.e. on the afternoon of the day before the Convocation) in
the BHUBANESWAR BEHERA AUDITORIUM (BBA) of the Institute. Since the Convocation is a sombre event, it is imperative that the event moves without flaw.
Only a complete rehearsal shall ensure compliance by all concerned. Hence, it has been decided not to permit a Graduand to participate in the Convocation
if he/she misses the rehearsal.
Please note that your certificate will bear your name as listed in our website (See Graduand List) which is the same as appearing in your last certificate as per
Institute policy. Please let us know if (and only if) there is a spelling mistake before 31st December 2020. You can email to email@example.com
[Research Graduands] or firstname.lastname@example.org [UG & PG Graduands]. We shall have no opportunity to correct it before Convocation under any circumstances,
if informed thereafter.
No accommodation shall be provided. Covid-19 guidelines have to be strictly adhered during movements in the NIT Campus.
Expecting your presence in the XVIII Convocation.
