BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : NA
  • Department : Life Science
  • Location : RNAi Lab (Room # MN342)
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The luminometer works on the principle of spectrophotometry which is associated with the phenomenon of luminescence. A luminescence is the emission of light by certain materials which does not result from heating.

APPLICATION:

Luminometers are very sensitive devices that are used to measure very small amounts of light, sometimes only a handful of photons. They usually work with small samples, sometimes with only a few microliters, such as protein solutions or suspension cells contained in a microcentrifuge tube or wells of a microplate.
