PRINCIPLE:

UV-Vis Spectroscopy, or Ultraviolet-Visible Spectroscopy, measures the absorption or transmission of UV and visible light by a sample. When light passes through a sample, specific wavelengths are absorbed by the samples molecules, causing electronic transitions. The amount of light absorbed at each wavelength is measured and used to determine the concentration of the absorbing species in the sample.

APPLICATION:

Quantification: Determining the concentration of a substance in a sample. Purity Assessment: Evaluating the purity of a sample by measuring absorbance at specific wavelengths. Kinetic Studies: Monitoring the progress of a reaction over time by measuring changes in absorbance. Protein and Nucleic Acid Analysis: Measuring the concentration and purity of proteins and nucleic acids.
