BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Make:- i GENE Lab serve Model:- IG-618GD
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : EMGL & UG-PG Biotechnology Laboratory-I (Room No-304-305)
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The IG-618GD Gel Documentation System operates based on UV fluorescence and visible light imaging technology. It is designed to capture high-resolution images of DNA, RNA, or protein bands stained with fluorescent dyes (e.g., Ethidium Bromide, SYBR Green) or colorimetric stains (e.g., Coomassie Blue). The UV light excites the fluorophores in the gel, which emit light captured by a high-resolution camera, allowing visualization and analysis.

APPLICATION:

Molecular Biology: Visualizing DNA and RNA in agarose or polyacrylamide gels. Protein Analysis :Imaging protein bands in SDS-PAGE gels stained with dyes. Genetic Research: Monitoring PCR and RT-PCR results. Diagnostics :Gel electrophoresis for clinical samples, such as genotyping or pathogen detection. Educational Use :Demonstrations of gel electrophoresis in academic settings.
