BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : OMETRON (Bruel & Kjaer, Denmark)
  • Department : Civil Engineering
  • Location : Structural Engineering Laboratory
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The OMETRON Vibrometer operates on the principle of Laser Doppler Vibrometry (LDV). It uses a laser beam that is split into a reference beam and a signal beam. The signal beam is directed onto the vibrating test structure, and the reflected light is recombined with the reference beam. The frequency shift due to the vibration of the test structure is measured, which allows for the determination of the vibration velocity.

APPLICATION:

Measuring non-contact vibration can be done very easily by connecting Laser Vibrometer to PULSE, Brüel & Kjær’s Multi-analyzer The OMETRON Vibrometer is used for non-contact measurement of vibration velocity on various surfaces, including those at extreme temperatures, underwater, or in high radiation environments. It is ideal for applications where mounting a vibration transducer is impractical or undesirable, such as on delicate structures, soft materials, or in clean rooms.
