The Applied Biosystems™ 7500 Real-Time PCR System uses real-time PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to quantify DNA or RNA. It measures the amplification of DNA during the PCR process using fluorescence-based detection. As the PCR amplifies the target DNA, a fluorescent signal is produced, which is measured at each cycle. This enables precise quantification of DNA/RNA from the exponential phase of amplification, providing highly sensitive and reproducible results.
Fluorescent detection is typically achieved using TaqMan® probes (which are sequence-specific), ensuring higher specificity and sensitivity for DNA quantification.
The system operates using advanced optical configurations and variable excitation capacities to detect multiple fluorophores simultaneously (up to 5 different colors).
