BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : CY Shimadzu, GC 2010 Plus
  • Department : Chemistry
  • Location : Department of Chemistry
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Non-Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The GC-2010 Plus operates on the principle of gas-liquid chromatography (GLC), where a sample is vaporized and carried by an inert gas (mobile phase) through a coated capillary column (stationary phase). The different components in the sample separate based on their interactions with the stationary phase and are detected at the end of the column.

APPLICATION:

Environmental Analysis: Detection of pollutants and contaminants in air, water, and soil samples Pharmaceuticals: Quality control and purity testing of drugs and excipients Food and Beverage: Analysis of additives, contaminants, and flavor compounds Petroleum: Characterization of hydrocarbons and additives in fuels and lubricants Forensic Science: Identification of substances in forensic samples
