BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : REMI, CIS 24 BL
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : Structural Biology Laboratory
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

Temperature Control: The incubator provides precise heating using a built-in heating system controlled by a microprocessor. The temperature can be set according to the specific needs of the application, ranging from ambient temperature plus 5°C to 60°C. A temperature sensor continuously monitors the internal temperature, and the system makes automatic adjustments to maintain the set temperature. Orbital Shaking: The orbital shaking mechanism ensures a circular shaking motion with a 25 mm orbit. This motion provides thorough mixing of solutions or suspensions, without the risk of sample damage. The shaking speed is adjustable from 40 to 300 rpm, allowing for varying degrees of agitation depending on the nature of the sample. Integrated Timer: The unit includes a digital timer that can be set for 0 to 120 minutes, or set to run continuously, depending on the experiment. This ensures flexibility for different types of experiments, where the duration of shaking may vary.

APPLICATION:

Cell Culture:Used for growing and maintaining cell cultures in a controlled temperature environment while ensuring proper mixing of growth media or reagents. Common in microbiology, bacterial, yeast, or mammalian cell culture. Microbial Growth Studies:Essential for culturing microorganisms, as it provides the necessary shaking for aeration, allowing for optimal growth conditions. Used in research on bacteria, fungi, and algae. Enzyme and Protein Assays:Used in biochemical research to maintain the right conditions for enzyme reactions, protein assays, and other biochemical reactions that require both temperature control and mixing. Dissolution Studies: Used for conducting dissolution tests for solid dosage forms in pharmaceutical applications. Antibiotic Sensitivity Testing:Used in clinical research to carry out antibiotic sensitivity tests by growing bacterial cultures and mixing reagents or antibiotics. Fermentation Studies:Employed in fermentation research, providing a temperature-controlled environment and proper mixing for fermentative processes. Extraction and Digestion Processes:Often used for solvent extractions or digestion processes, particularly in environmental and chemical analysis. Sample Preparation:Helps in the preparation of liquid samples for further analysis, especially where precise temperature control and mixing are required to maintain sample integrity.
