BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : NETZSC; Maia 200F3
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : BM208
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) measures heat flow associated with material transitions as a function of temperature or time. Key transitions include melting, crystallization, glass transition, and other thermal events. Heat Flux DSC: In the DSC 200 F3 Maia®, the sample and reference are subjected to the same temperature program. The differential heat flow required to maintain the sample and reference at the same temperature is measured. This heat flow correlates to material-specific properties.

APPLICATION:

Polymer Analysis:Glass transition temperature (Tg). Crystallization and melting behavior. Thermal stability and degradation. Pharmaceuticals:Characterization of polymorphs. Determination of purity and compatibility studies. Food Industry: Fat melting behavior. Stabilization of emulsions. Quality Control: Failure analysis. Process optimization.
