BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Horiba Duetta
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : Biomedical BM320
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

UV-Visible Absorption: In this mode, the instrument measures the absorption of ultraviolet (UV) and visible light by a sample. The sample absorbs light at specific wavelengths, and the amount of light absorbed provides information about the chemical composition and concentration of the sample. Fluorescence: In fluorescence mode, the instrument excites a sample with light at a specific wavelength, and then detects the emitted light at a longer wavelength. This allows for the study of fluorescence characteristics of the sample, which can be used to study molecular interactions, concentrations, and properties of biomolecules.

APPLICATION:

Biological and Biomedical Research: Study of DNA/RNA, proteins, and other biomolecules. Fluorescence-based assays, such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) or DNA quantification. Material Science:Characterization of materials, coatings, and thin films. Fluorescent markers and dyes in material development. Pharmaceutical Research: Screening of drug interactions and fluorescence-based assays for drug development. Environmental Analysis: Measurement of trace chemicals, pollutants, or contaminants using fluorescence and absorbance. Water and air quality monitoring. Chemical Analysis: Absorption spectra for concentration determination. Analysis of organic and inorganic compounds in both solid and liquid forms.
