BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Make:- Eppendorf Model:- 5430R
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : EMGL & UG-PG Biotechnology Laboratory-I (Room No-304-305)
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The Eppendorf 5430R centrifuge operates based on the principle of centrifugal force. When a sample is spun at high speed, the denser components migrate outward toward the rotors wall due to the centrifugal force, separating them from less dense components. It is equipped with cooling capabilities (hence the "R" for refrigerated), maintaining samples at specific temperatures during the centrifugation process to prevent heat-sensitive samples from degrading.

APPLICATION:

Molecular Biology: DNA/RNA isolation, protein purification, and plasmid preparation. Clinical Applications: Blood and urine sample processing. Microplate Centrifugation: High-throughput workflows, such as ELISA and PCR plate centrifugation. Cell Culture: Pelleting cells and cellular components like organelles. Biochemical Studies: Separation of biochemical compounds based on density.
