PRINCIPLE:

The Agilent 1200 Infinity Series HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) works on the principle of separation of mixtures based on their interaction with a stationary phase (column material) and a mobile phase (solvent). In reverse phase chromatography, the stationary phase is typically non-polar (e.g., C18), while the mobile phase is polar (e.g., water and organic solvents). Compounds in the sample are separated based on their hydrophobicity; more hydrophobic substances interact strongly with the stationary phase and move more slowly through the column.
