BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Faro
  • Department : Industrial Design
  • Location : PDD Lab
  • Category : Category - II
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

The FARO 7-Axis FaroArm uses contact and non-contact measurement methods: Contact Measurement: It uses a probe attached to the arm to directly touch and measure a surface, providing precise dimensional data. Non-contact Measurement: The laser scanner can capture detailed surface data of an object without physical contact, using laser beams to project a grid on the object’s surface and measure the reflected light. This enables high-speed data collection.

APPLICATION:

Manufacturing and Quality Control :Ideal for measuring parts in production lines to ensure they meet the required specifications. It can be used for dimensional analysis, tolerance measurement, and assembly verification. Reverse Engineering :Captures 3D data from existing parts that are either too complex or unavailable in CAD formats for reverse engineering and model creation. Aerospace and Automotive Industries :Used for measuring engine components, aircraft fuselages, and other critical parts where precision is essential. Tooling and Fixture Design :Helps design and measure tooling, fixtures, and molds in various industrial processes. Art and Sculpture Restoration :Utilized in restoration projects to scan and replicate parts of sculptures or monuments.
