BASIC INFORMATION

  • Make & Model : Wear & Friction Monitor - TR 20E-M6, DUCOM
  • Department : Biotechnology and Medical Engineering
  • Location : Tissue Engineering Lab I (Biomaterials)
  • Category : Category - III
  • Status : Functional

PRINCIPLE:

Frictional Force: Using precision sensors during relative motion between contact surfaces. Wear Volume: By evaluating material loss after a defined number of test cycles. Environmental Factors: Such as temperature, humidity, and lubrication conditions during testing.

APPLICATION:

Material Testing:Metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. Coatings (hard and soft). Lubricant Evaluation: Testing oils, greases, and cutting fluids. Wear Studies: Fundamental wear mechanisms (adhesive, abrasive, etc.). Mapping of wear vs. pressure-velocity (PV) diagrams. Product Development: Testing and optimizing industrial components like bearings, gears, and seals.
