Initiatives by NIT, Rourkela

The following are the programs implemented in the villages adopted by NIT Rourkela:

The UBA team of the institute visited the respective villages in the period of 10th May – 20th May 2018. They interacted with the elected representatives which included the Sarpanch, Ward member, Samiti Shabhya and other office bearers, the general public and a few other significant people to get to know the common issues. This was followed by a detailed analysis of the problems of each village and thus a roadmap was prepared.

The survey process started in July 2018, as per the guidelines of UBA. Since then, regular interactions have taken place with the village youth to identify their concerns and required attempts are being made to address them. In addition to that, plantation drives have also been conducted in the various schools situated in these villages.

To extend the digital India into the rural sectors, several attempts have been made by our UBA Team. The Sarpanch along with the concerned BDO were requested to provide the list of educated youth as well as other people who are interested to volunteer to take part in this noble cause to build our nation. Once the responses are received, required attempts will be made to organise various training programme in that direction.
