Abstract:

Childhood undernutrition is a global health priority for sustainable development and it is a complex issue and remains the leading cause of death and disease worldwide. Globally, in 2020, undernutrition was approximately contributing 45% of under-5 child deaths. The household environmental factors play a crucial role in determining the nutritional status of children especially in the developing world. The objectives of this study are: first, to study the level and pattern of nutritional status of children at the state and district levels second, to assess the impact of household environmental factors on child nutrition in aspirational and non-aspirational districts in India third, to examine the contribution of environmental factors to the total economic inequality in child nutrition and lastly, to examine the impact of district-level socio-economic and environmental covariates on child nutrition. For the present study data will be extracted from the National Family Health Survey round 4 (2015-16) and round 5 (2019-21). Both bivariate and multivariate analysis will be used to examine the above objectives.
