BIOGRAPHY
Prof. Surabhi Verma is an esteemed Assistant Professor of Sanskrit at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela, Odisha. Her academic journey is distinguished by a deep engagement with both traditional wisdom and modern scientific perspectives. From a young age, Prof. Verma developed a fascination with Sanskrit, which evolved during her higher studies into an appreciation for its profound philosophical and scholarly traditions. She views Sanskrit not merely as a language but as a repository of ancient wisdom within the Sastra Parampara. With a solid foundation in modern sciences, Prof. Verma has been able to bridge the gap between ancient Agamic and Tantrik teachings and contemporary scientific understanding. Her research interests prominently include dreams, consciousness, and precognition. Her doctoral research delved into the enigmatic aspects of dreams and precognition through the lens of Indian philosophy, offering new insights into these complex phenomena. Since joining NIT Rourkela in 2015, Prof. Verma has been dedicated to imparting knowledge about Indic Sciences to engineering students. Her teaching and research contributions are enriched by her involvement in a significant project sponsored by the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR), New Delhi. This project, titled "A Study relating Consciousness and Spiritual Intelligence with Special Reference to Kashmir Saivism," explored the dimensions of consciousness through the Agama and Tantra Sastras. This research not only provided new insights into various psychological phenomena but also deepened her understanding of esoteric and mystical aspects of Tantra, including concepts related to time travel. Prof. Verma continues to share her unique knowledge and perspectives through various courses at NIT Rourkela, contributing to the academic and intellectual growth of her students.
