BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Thivya P. has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Process Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela since July 2024. Her research interests include food packaging, food waste utilization, functional foods and nutraceuticals, processing of cereals, pulses, and oilseeds, bakery and confectionery technology, and new product development. Before joining NIT Rourkela, Dr. Thivya served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Technology at the Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), Deemed to be University, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, from July 2023 to June 2024. During her tenure at KARE, she has enthusiastically organized a National-Level Conference and Seminar and also received funding from the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India (MSME), to establish a start-up on the KARE campus. Additionally, she has experience working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Technology at Mahendra Engineering College (MEC), Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. Dr. Thivya has published many articles in various peer-reviewed national and international journals, achieving an impact factor as high as 14.4, with over 190 citations, h-index of 7, and i-index of 6. She also serves as a reviewer for several reputed food science journals. She completed her Ph.D. in Food Process Engineering and M.Tech in Food Science and Technology from the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM-T) Thanjavur, and her B.Tech in Food Technology from Alagappa College of Technology (ACT) campus, Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
