BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Kshetramohan Sahoo joined NIT, Rourkela as an Assistant Professor in July 2024. Prior to this, he has worked for two decades in industry and academia of repute. He entered into 47th batch of BARC Training school, Mumbai after completing B.E. in Chemical Engineering in 2003. There, in his early twenties he was taught by top nuclear scientists like Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Dr. Baldev Raj, Dr. K.N. Vyas, and faculties from IITB and UDCT. In 2004 he started serving BARC as a nuclear reactor engineer and contributed in his capacity to country’s ‘Three stage nuclear power programme’. It gave him exposure to a spectrum of practical aspects of multidisciplinary Engineering. After six years of involvement in need-based R&D activity he realized that he could be more useful to society if he would do independent research in chemical engineering. He resigned as Scientific Officer-D in 2010 to pursue a full time Direct PhD in IISc, Bangalore under Prof. Sanjeev Kumar. He is ever grateful to Prof. Sanjeev, who left no stone unturned to inculcate in him the ability of critical thinking and questioning almost everything. He received his MSc (Engg.) and PhD from IISc in 2020, the infamous COVID year. He completed a full circle in 2021 by joining as a guest faculty at IGIT Sarang. A dream of starting his teaching career from own alma mater turned into reality after eighteen years. During 2021-24 he worked more to expand his domain of understanding. He is indebted to Prof. K. Kesava Rao of IISc, Prof. K. Krishnaiah of IITM, Prof. J.B. Joshi of UICT, Prof. M.Bowendi of MIT, and his students at IGIT for their roles in his evolution as a teacher. At present he works on a host of problems under the umbrella of ‘Sustainable Process Exploration, Engineering, and Development (SPEED) Lab. He will be happy to have cups of coffee with students, faculties, and industry leaders if they have some ‘SPEED’ thoughts. Dr. Sahoo loves good literature, soulful music, and all students without any bias.
