BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Ravi Kumar Reddy Addula joined as an assistant professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at NIT Rourkela in July 2024. Before joining NIT, Dr. Ravi obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Where his research focuses on the application of molecular simulations, including both Monte Carlo and Molecular Dynamics methods, to understand the processes at the molecular level. Specifically focussed on studying the dynamics of solid-liquid interfaces, computing interfacial properties, and investigating nucleation processes. In addition to molecular simulations, he also has experience in mathematical modeling and simulations. Following his Ph.D., he did postdoctoral research at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Prof. Baron Peters' lab. During the postdoctoral stay his research centered on understanding the dynamics of ice-water interfaces with or without supercooling and developing models to analyze drop-freezing experiments for ice nucleation. Moving forward, he wants to explore research interests investigating crystal nucleation from solution, studying the behavior of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at interfaces and their degradation mechanisms, and developing new materials for energy storage. B.Tech and M.Tech students interested in research are welcome to explore internship opportunities in his group.
