Syllabus

Module 1 :

1. Determination of acceleration due to gravity ‘g’ by Kater’s Pendulum.
2. Determination of spring constant and effective mass of a given spiral spring.
3. Verification of the laws of transverse vibration using Sonomter.
4. Determination of the moment of inertia and radius of gyration using bifilar suspension.
5. Determination of the moment of inertia of fly wheel.
6. Determination of Poission’s ratio of the rubber.
7. Determination of the rigidity of modulus using Torsional pendulum.
8. Determination of the rigidity of modulus using Searle’s static apparatus.
9. Determination of the rigidity of modulus of copper wire using statical method.
10. Determination of the Young’s modulus by cantilever bending method.
11. Determination of the Young’s modulus of a given beam by bending using travelling microscope.
12. Determination of the rigidity of modulus of cooper wire using Maxwell’s needle.

Course Objective

Course Outcome

1 .

At the end of the course, students will be able to:
CO1: Perform effectively experiments on the measurement of acceleration due to gravity ‘g’ by Kater’s Pendulum.

CO2: Perform effectively experiment on the measurement rigidity of modulus and Young’s modulus of different physical systems.

CO3: Verify the laws of transverse vibration using Sonomter.

CO4: Determine the moment of inertia of the bifilar suspension and flywheel.

CO5: Measure the spring constant and effective mass of a given spiral spring.
