Syllabus
1. Measurement of the size of cells and subcellular components in light microscope.
2. Staining of nucleus, mitochondria in human cheek epithelial cells.
3. Cell viability assay by trypan blue exclusion and MTT assay.
4. Study of apoptosis, autophagy and senescence in Mammalian cells.
5. Study of different stages of mitosis in onion root tip cells.
6. Study of different stages of meiosis in grasshopper testis cells.
7. Analysis of expression of fluorescent-tagged proteins by transfection in eukaryotic cell.
8. Analysis of expression of protein by Western blot.
Course Objectives
- To gain hands-on experience with experimental approaches applied in Cell Biology.
- To train with equipment and techniques commonly used to understand the molecular basis of cell and gain research experience with the quantitative aspects of molecular cell biology.
- To promote laboratory skill in designing, conducting, and analysing experiments.
- Learn for preparation of scientific reports.
Course Outcomes
Cell Biology laboratory course is intended to demonstrate with techniques used in cell biology. By the end of the semester student will able to familiar with cell identification, cell culture, cell and organellar staining, cell division, Western Blot, fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry.
