Heat transfer modeling of fluid flow through a cylindrical channel.Predicting the heat transfer from a heated solid to a fluid enclosed in a rectangular vessel.
Solidification of a metal ingot in a mould: Simulating the thermodynamics and kinetics of the process in two and three dimensions.
Modeling the solidification of an aluminum metal dropletSome case studies on modeling of temperature profile in a muffle furnace
Simulation of gas flow in blast furnace.Temperature predictions near the surfaces of a metal slab subjected to a constant temperature.
Predicting the degradation of iron in aerated water solutions by plotting the potential-pH/ EH-pH/ Pourbaix diagram

Course Objectives

  • Student can use modeling techniques to simulate metallurgical process relevant to steel industry

Course Outcomes

1. The students will be able to aware of the basic theory of Computation Fluid Dynamics ( CFD ). <br />2. The students will be able to solve Navier Stokes equation numerically using python packages <br />3. The students can simulate some metallurgical processes by applying python platform <br />4. The students can simulate different metallurgical processes by applying CFD software package <br />5. The students can model different metallurgical process using simulation methodology <br />6. The students can address metallurgical industrial problem by simulation.
