Syllabus
Introduction Limitation of conventional manufacturing processes, need of nonconventional manufacturing process and its classification Principle and working and applications of unconventional machining process mechanical energy based NCM: Abrasive jet machining (AJM), water jet machining (WJM), Abrasive water jet machining (AWJM), ultrasonic machining (USM) Electro thermal energy based NCM: electro-discharge machining (EDM), Wire- electro discharge machining (WEDM) Chemical energy based: electrochemical machining (ECM), chemical machining High energy density methods: Laser beam machining (LBM), Electron beam machining (EBM), Plasma arc machining (PAM)Hybrid machining: Electro chemical discharge machining (ECDM), Ultrasonic assisted EDM, Electro chemical discharge grinding, Powder suspended EDM Electro discharge coating. Microfabrication: Lithography, thin film deposition like oxidation, PVD, CVD etc., Etching.
Course Objectives
- Understanding of conventional and non-conventional manufacturing terms
- Learning about different types of non-conventional machining process and advance machines
- Learning about different types of microfabrication methods.
Course Outcomes
The knowledge in the subject will help the student to get a job in manufacturing sector, automobile sector and electronic industry. <br />Knowledge will also be implemented for research work in the field of advance manufacturing field.
