Syllabus
Simulation of various power electronics converters and their motor drives applications in the MATLAB/Simulink, dc-dc converters: Boost converter, Buck converter and Flyback converter, closed-loop voltage control mode operation of Flyback converter, dc motor drives using universal bridge PWM converter, dc motor drives using closed-loop controlled GTO based dc-dc converter, induction motor drive with constant V/f control, induction motor drive using the P-I controller, induction motor dynamic model simulation during free acceleration, simulation of three-phase PWM active rectifier acting as the utility interface for the input line current wave shaping to improve line current THD.

Course Objectives
- To acquire skill in Simulink simulation of power electronic converters and dc drives
- To simulate induction motor drive in Simulink using closed loop V/f control
- To simulate three phase PWM rectifier for utility interface with active current shaping for unity power factor
- To verify dynamic model of induction motor in reference frames through simulation using MATLAB programming
