Syllabus
- To study the size distribution of a metalliferous ore by using a Test Sieve Stack
- To study the size distribution of a metalliferous ore by using a Vibratory Shaker.
- Study of a Jaw Crusher, and determination of average size and reduction ratio of crushing a metalliferous ore.
- Study of a Ball mill, and determination of average size and reduction ratio of grinding a metalliferous ore.
- Study of a Hammer mill, and determination of average size and reduction ratio of grinding a metalliferous ore.
- To study a shaking table (Wilfley Table) and study of the underlying principle.
- Study of the principle of froth flotation Cell and beneficiation of a metalliferous ore
- To study the principle of a magnetic separation unit and determine its efficiency.
Course Objectives
- To understand the different processes of size reduction.
- To understand the separation of mineral on the basis of gravity, magnetic and electrical property after size reduction etc.
Course Outcomes
CO1 - Evaluate and experiment the size distribution of ores and coal/coke through Sieves and shakers <br />CO2 - Knowledge of different crushing units and determination of size distribution. <br />CO3 - Knowledge of different grinding units i.e. Ball mill, hammer mill and and determination of size distribution. <br />CO4 - Knowledge on separation units based on particle shape and size <br />CO5 - Knowledge on separation units based on physical properties of particle <br />CO6 - Knowledge on separation units based on chemical properties of particle
