Syllabus
Module1:
Design of Transformer: 1) Introduction to different parts of different types of three-phase transformer, introduction to Matlab programming 2) Design of transformer core (limbs and yokes) 3) Design of Transformer LV Winding 4) Design of Transformer HV winding 5) Drawing of a cross-sectional view of Core, LV and HV windings using Matlab 6) To find transformer efficiency and voltage regulation (7 Hours)
Module2:
Design of Rotating Machine: 1) Winding arrangement of rotating machines 2) Draw winding arrangement using Matlab (3 Hours)
Course Objectives
- To expose students to the various parts of practical transformers and rotating machines
- To teach students to develop an algorithm for the design of a transformer under given operating conditions
- To teach students to develop an algorithm for the design of armature windings for DC as well as AC rotating machines
Course Outcomes
At the end of the course, students will be able to <br />CO1: Decide transformer core type and material, cooling system, conductor type and material etc. based on rating <br />CO2: Develop a procedure for step by step design of a transformer <br />CO3: Design armature winding for DC and AC rotating machines <br />CO4: Draw the given design of a transformer or armature windings using Matlab with proper dimensions
