Message from Director

Greetings to all the stakeholders on this significant milestone, the Diamond Jubilee year, the 60th anniversary of the Institute. We are “journeying together” to strengthen NIT Rourkela and move ahead further.

On the auspicious occasion of the celebration of the Diamond Jubilee year, I would firstly like to congratulate all the BOG members, the Principals/Directors, the faculties, the staff members starting from its inception till date, the alumni and all the students of NIT Rourkela who have been an integral part in building NIT Rourkela. Diamond has been the hardest and the standard of exemplar purity and excellence since time immemorial. Now, on the occasion of the Diamond Jubilee of our Institute, we need the mission of unity, we need the mutual accountability of sharing the light and truth, reminding each other of what is the way forward to achieve the vision, “To transform the Overall Image of our Institute and establishing a new Brand Value”.

I am very happy to be a part of this milestone of NIT Rourkela. The Institute instituted in 1961 has been providing opportunities to many young men and women who wanted to enter the professional arena and participate in nation-building as envisioned by our Founding Fathers. It is indeed a matter of satisfaction that NIT Rourkela has successfully striven to be counted as one of the best Institutes in the Nation for the last sixty years whether it is in the field of academics, research, co-scholastic enrichment, or sports. Therefore, we need to renew our willingness to journey together in building our Institute in achieving excellence and newer heights in the future. So I invite all the stakeholders to walk the path along with us and be part of this memorable journey.

Dear alumni/alumnae!,

Warm greetings!

Your Alma Mater lovingly extends a hearty welcome to you at the Diamond Jubilee Global Alumni Meet.

A decade back, some of you had called on during Golden Jubilee Home Coming function. It was a historic occasion, an ecstatic moment for you and us. This Diamond jubilee celebration, albeit delayed, too is a historical event. The next such experience is far away for Platinum Jubilee. You bid farewell after graduation and get engaged in charting your own individual ways. Seldom do you get time to look back, but a mother waits with a yearning heart for your homecoming!

'Leisure', the timeless poem of 19th century-born poet William Henry Davies, opens with the following lines:

"What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?"
and concludes with
"A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare."

More than a century after, let us reflect and introspect -- how apt, how hugely relevant these words are even today! In life, in this mad rush at break-neck speed, what have we got? Enough of competition and corporate goals, targets and turmoil. It is time to take a break!

The Sacred soil of Alma Mater is most rejuvenating, immensely invigorating. Alma Mater beckons you. The dates are December 28-30, 2022. Your Alma Mater welcomes you longingly, with loving, open arms!

With regards and all the best wishes

Yours sincerely

Kishanjit Kumar Khatua
Dean (Centre for Alumni, Industry and International Relations)
