Study of Basic Elements of Simulink: Random Integer Generator, Filter, FFT Blocks
Basic Baseband Communication Experiments: Boolean logic signals, AWGN channel inclusion, Frames and Frame-Based Processing
Building a Channel Noise Model, Error Rate Calculation, Basic Encoding and Decoding
Modeling a Channel with Modulation, DIGITAL MODULATION USING SIMULINK- PAM, PSK, and QAM
To design of DS-SS system and to evaluate the performance of a QAM based DS-SS System using Simulink.
To design of OFDM transmitter and receiver using Simulink and evaluate BER performance of a QAM based OFDM system.
To analyse the BER vs SNR performance of a CDMA system.
To analyse BER vs SNR performance of Space Time Block Codes (STBC) in MIMO system for flat-fading Rayleigh channel condition considering different diversity schemes.
To analyse the BER vs SNR performance of different equalisation techniques in a MIMO system.

Course Objectives

  1. To Understand how the various signal processing and coding techniques to combat channel uncertainties in wireless communication
  2. To Understand the information theoretical aspects (such as the capacity) of wireless channels and basic spread spectrum techniques in mobile wireless systems

Course Outcomes

Determine the appropriate transceiver design of multi-antenna systems and evaluate the data rate performance.
Analyse the error probabilities for common modulation schemes and the performance of trunked radio systems
Design wireless communication systems with 4G (OFDM) multi-carrier technologies.
