Syllabus

• Measurement of Transmission Line Parameters of the supplied Transmission Line.
• Parametric study of Klystron Tube Characteristic and Gunn Oscillator
• Study of Radiation Patterns of Dipole, Yagi-Uda and Horn Antenna using Antenna trainer kit.
• Study of Microwave Components. (a) Dielectric Cells (b) Attenuators (c) Detector Mount (d) Frequency Meter (e) Slotted Line (f) Termination Systems (g) Gunn Oscillator (h) Power Supply System (i) Gunn Power Supply (j) VSWR Meter.
• Design and simulation of various shaped Microstrip Patch Antennas.
• Basic Training on TCAD Sentaurus Tools.
• Design and simulation study of various types of MOSFETS.
• “Project”: The student will have to select/propose a device to be simulated and characterized.

Course Objectives

  1. Students to understand the concept of Microwave Techniques read in theory
  2. To provide some knowledge on Antenna Analysis and Design using HFSS tools.
  3. Explore of TCAD SENTAURUS for Semiconductor Devices Modeling and Simulation
  4. Realization of analog and digital circuits using nanoscale device(s) models.

Course Outcomes

• Students learn to design and simulate RF and Microwave circuits and antennas.
• Students use HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) to simulate, verify, and optimize their design.
• This Lab predicts the electrical properties of devices. Device simulations will be primarily used as virtual measurements of the electrical behavior of semiconductor devices.
