Transformers: Back to back test on two identical transformers at different load and power factor, Parallel operation of two single phase transformers, Three phase transformer winding connections, Three-phase to two-phase conversion of transformer.
DC Machines: Swinburne’s test on a dc shunt machine, Load test on dc shunt motor, Study of Speed control of a dc series motor.
Induction machines: No load test and blocked rotor test on a three phase induction motor, load test on three phase induction motor, speed control of three-phase slip ring induction motor at variable load condition, no load test and blocked rotor test on a single phase induction motor.
Synchronous machines: Determination of regulation of three phase alternator by synchronous impedance method, V curves and inverted V curves of synchronous motor.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the working of all electric machines.
  2. To acquire practical knowledge to obtain the various parameters of Transformers, DC machines and Induction machines.

Course Outcomes

1. Ability to conduct experiments on Ac machines to find the characteristics.
2. Able to calculate torque and speed of given Machine.
3. Ability to conduct no load and full load tests on transformers/Induction Motor
4. Ability to perform test on synchronous Machine
