Syllabus

Simulate the manufacturing process of the given inorganic or organic chemical product using ASPEN Plus/HYSYS. The student has to first show the process flow sheet and discusses the modification in the process to simulate in ASPEN. Next, he/she has to collect temperature, pressure and other necessary data required for all units in the plant to run the simulation. After flow sheet preparation and feeding all the necessary data in ASPEN student has to report the followings.
1. Material and energy balance around all units in the plant
2. Overall yield
3. Amount of energy required to run the plant
4. Size of all pieces of equipment in the plant
5. The magnitude of waste streams
6. Optimization of individual units
7. Cost analysis.

Course Objectives

  1. The objective of the lab is to introduce students to solving process simulation problems using Aspen-Plus.

Course Outcomes

The student will be able to do simulation of individual equipments, simulation ofprocess plant flow sheet, design specification and sensitivity analysis and unsteady state simulation.
