Introduction to water and air pollutants and solid wastes Sampling and analysis techniques National and International regulations. Classification of particulate matters, plume behavior, Gaussian plume model, Numerical on design of stack height, Air pollution control devices and abatement techniques. Design of air pollution control devices such as scrubbers, cyclone separators, electrostatic precipitators, Gravity settling chamber Treatment of waste water – Primary, secondary, tertiary and advanced processes. Advanced biological treatment of water pollutants, Classification of solid wastes, Solid waste management methods, biogas production, Environmental Management systems, Environmental audit, Environmental Impact assessment, Risk assessment, ISO series, Sustainable development. Case studies.

Course Objectives

  1. To enable the students with basic concept on EMS and their tools.
  2. It would also equip the students with various environmental standards and help them in decision making.
  3. To learn the basic design of air pollution control devices
