Invitation for Attending Convocation
The XV Convocation of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is scheduled to be held on 20th January 2018 (Saturday) at 10.00 am in the NCC Ground of the Institute. It is a pleasure for me to invite you to attend the convocation and receive the Degree in person. The Institute also has the pleasure of inviting your parents and spouse (if you are married) to join us on this pleasant occasion. I regret that children are not allowed into the Convocation Hall. Please visit our website www.nitrkl.ac.in for further details.
Please note that the Dress Code for graduands receiving degree in the XV Convocation has been changed from the existing Gown-Cap to Samabalpuri
pattern to give an ethnic touch to the Convocation.
Male Students : Full sleeve Sambalpuri design Kurta (Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D), white colour Pajama and matching
Utariya to be issued by the Institute at the time of Registration. Graduands will wear their own leather sandal or Juti to match the dress code
and occasion. However, slippers are strictly not permitted. There will be four different sizes, viz. 38”, 40”, 42” and 44” of Kurtas
and the student has to mention his preferred size at the time of registration. Since, the size needs to be informed to the supplier
(M/s Utkalika, a Govt. of Odisha agency) by 1st December, 2017, students pre-registering after 30th November, 2017
may be issued a different size (preferably one size lower/higher) then the disired size.
Female Students : Sambalpuri design Saree (Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D) to be issued by the Institute at the time of
Registration. The sarees do not have a blouse piece attached. Graduands will come with their own blouse matching to the Saree (i. e Blue for
UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D) and leather sandal or Juti to match the dress code and occasion. However, high heel sandals and
slippers are strictly not permitted. A true picture of the sarees will be uploaded in the website by 1st week of December, 2017 to help
the students to choose the matching blouse. Minor variation in the blouse colour (i. e Blue for UG, Green for PG and Maroon for Ph. D)
will be acceptable.
The graduands interested to receive their degree in the convocation are advised to pre-register online. Since all the events of the Convocation
are time-constrained and many logistics depend on actual number
of students coming to attend the Convocation, you are requested to pre-register on or before 10th January, 2018 to
ensure a smooth and successful Convocation.
The graduands will have to register their names in person on 19th January 2018 (Friday) between 8.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall of the Institute by producing any Photo ID (viz., NITR ID Card/Employee ID Card at the place of work/PAN Card/DL/Adhar Card/Voter ID). Participation by latecomers is forbidden to ensure that degree certificates are stacked in advance in the right sequence, and that there is no mix up during the Convocation.
Graduands reporting to receive degree in the Convocation are required to collect Convocation dress at the time of registration
on 19th January 2018 (Friday) between 8.00 am to 12.00 noon in the Rajendra Mishra Exhibition Hall
of the Institute. Students will retain the dress after the Convocation as a memory.
The cost of each set of dress (for boys) and Saree (for girls) is between 1,200/- to 1,300/-.
An amount of 1,000/- will be deducted from the Caution Money towards partial cost of the dress/saree from the students
attending the Convocation. Registering to attend the convocation will be treated as authorisation by the student for the same.
There will be a rehearsal of the convocation process at 2.30 pm on 19th January 2018 (Friday) (i.e. on the afternoon of
the day before the Convocation) in the NCC Ground of the Institute. Since the Convocation is a sombre event, it is imperative that the event moves
without flaw. Only a complete rehearsal shall ensure compliance by all concerned. Hence, it has been decided not to permit any graduand student to
participate in the Convocation if he/she misses the rehearsal.
Please note that your certificate will bear your name as listed in our website (See Graduand List). Please let us know if (and only if) there is a
spelling mistake before 21st December 2017. You can email to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We shall have no opportunity to correct it under any circumstances, if informed thereafter.
Since we have limited rooms in our Guest Houses and both the Guest Houses will be occupied with our Distinguished guests, we will not be in a position to provide accommodation in our Guest Houses. However, a concessional tariff has been worked out with some of the reputed Hotels in Rourkela. You may contact those Hotels directly for accommodation. The details of Hotels is available in the website.
Expecting your presence in the XV Convocation.
